Batting great, Sunil Gavaskar is confident that Indian skipper Virat Kohli will deliver with the bat during the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

It’s very surprising to say that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is out of form, considering the fact that he has arguably been the greatest batter of this generation. But it’s no brainer that when you play the sport for a long time, ups and downs are a part of it.

The right-handed batter has not been able to reach the three-figure mark since 2019 and has failed to score runs consistently since then.

However, there’s no doubt about his ability and skills and it is almost certain that he will come back strong and can rule the cricketing world for the next 4-5 years.

Though he showed the signs of returning to form in IPL 2021, where he scored 405 runs, but in the warm-up game of T20 World Cup 2021 against England, he only scored 11 runs and there are still a lot of speculations about his form as many feel that his dip in form is a serious concern for Team India.

However, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels that Indian skipper Virat Kohli bats at a crucial No.3 position and he has the responsibility of playing till the end and finishing the match. He remarked that there are no worries about his form as he has done it in the past and is capable of doing it.

He added that in Kohli’s case the saying “form is temporary class is permanent” is true.

"Virat Kohli has the responsibility of playing till the end, finishing the match. He is coming in at No.3, which is a crucial position. I don't think I have any worries about his form. He has done it in the past and he is capable of doing it.

“We keep on saying that form is temporary, class is permanent. It's true in Kohli's case. His form is temporary, but his class is permanent," Sunil Gavaskar said on India Today's Salaam Cricket 2021.

Sunil Gavaskar also talked about Hardik Pandya, saying that the all-rounder not bowling is not a concern for Team India. He added that the 28-year-old can be used to bowl a couple of overs if needed.

“I don't think it's a worry because people know he will bowl only in very less intervals. Even if he does, he will bowl 2 overs. If you're thinking that he will bowl 4 overs, then that's not going to happen.

"But if you are going to enter the stadium, thinking he is a good batsman and a good fielder, he can take good catches... if it's necessary, then he can bowl a couple of overs. It's only an option,” he said.

Team India pounded both England and Australia in their build-up to the T20 World Cup. They will kick start their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 24th October in Dubai.
