India is placed in Group 2 of Super 12s with New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Scotland and one qualifier.

Team India | GettyBCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that the Indian team will always be a contender to win the T20 World Cup. The 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup tournament is currently underway in Oman and UAE, with India beginning their campaign against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.

After Pakistan, India will clash with New Zealand (Oct. 31), Afghanistan (November 3), Scotland (Nov. 5), and a qualifier in the Super 12s. The Men in Blue will be fighting to win their second T20 World Cup title after 2007, which they had clinched under MS Dhoni, who is mentoring Virat Kohli's team in this edition.

"India has got so much talent so we will always be a contender. We have as much a chance of winning this World Cup as we had in the first. In the 2019 World Cup we lost in the semis so we have to win the big matches to win the World Cup. We are hopeful but you can't say anything, especially in T20 cricket. There is so little time in a match but yes, India will be a contender," Sourav Ganguly said on Salaam Cricket 2021.

India warmed up for the tournament with two comprehensive wins over England and Australia in the warm-up matches in Dubai.
