Former skipper Michael Vaughan feels that the Eoin Morgan-led England side needs to utilize the mandatory six-over powerplay in a better way if they fancy their chances of winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
After getting thumped by Team India in the first warmup game on 18th October, the England cricket team staged a decent comeback and defeated New Zealand in their second warmup game on 20th October.
Asked to bat first, England was jolted with the wicket of Jason Roy on the very first ball of the match. After the wicket of the opener, Dawid Malan then joined hands with Jos Buttler.

While the right-handed batter took New Zealand bowlers to cleaners, the southpaw failed to hit a single boundary in the power play and then gifted his wicket in the seventh over for 11 runs in 15 deliveries.
The Eoin Morgan-led side thanks to Jos Buttler’s 73, Jonny Bairstow’s 30 runs and a brutal finish by Sam Billings posted a total of 163 runs. While defending the target, they came out all guns blazing and on account of Mark Wood’s four wicket-haul bowled out New Zealand for 150 runs to clinch the match by 13 runs.
Despite winning the match, Michael Vaughan feels that England needs to maximize the first six overs if they have to win the T20 World Cup. He added that if Dawid Malan is going to consume deliveries in the power play, Jonny Bairstow should bat at No.3.
"England needs to find a way of maximizing the first 6 overs better ... If Malan is going to chew up so many balls in the power play he needs to either get on with it or Bairstow should Bat 3 ... #T20WorldCup," Michael Vaughan Tweeted.
England is placed in the Group 1 of the Super 12s stage with West Indies, Australia, South Africa, and two qualifiers. They will kick start their campaign against the West Indies on 23rd October.
