Indian cricket team on Sunday (October 17) hit the nets for the first time ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The team reassembled after the conclusion of the IPL 2021 on Friday.

Virat Kohli's team was also joined by former captain MS Dhoni at their practice session, as he will play the role of mentor for the duration of India's campaign in UAE.

BCCI shared few pictures from the net session on their Twitter account and welcomed Dhoni back in the group.

Dhoni recently led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fourth title and has previously led India in every T20 World Cup from 2007 to 2016. This time he has been assigned the responsibility of being with the team to provide his crucial inputs and share his experience with the squad members.

BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly recently confirmed Dhoni will not charge the board anything for his services. The great wicketkeeper-batter led India to glory in the inaugural edition of the tournament in South Africa and will hope to do the same as a mentor in UAE.

This tournament will also be Kohli's last as a captain in the T20I format and he would love to sign off on a high in the shortest format after winning bilateral series in almost every country.

India will play two warm-up games against England on October 18 and Australia on October 20 before beginning their campaign against Pakistan in the Super 12 round on 24th in Dubai.
