New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson is looking forward to reuniting with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), resuming from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the T20 event was postponed in April due to COVID-19.
As the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is set to be played between October 17 and November 14 in the UAE and Oman, Jamieson is aiming to make the most of the IPL 2021 to get used to the subcontinent conditions and fine-tune his T20 skill-sets ahead of the global event.
Notably, Jamieson was RCB's most expensive buy and overall the second-most expensive purchase in the IPL 2021 auction, having been picked up for a whopping Rs. 15 crores.

A total number of 31 IPL 14 matches will be played over 27 days in the UAE – 13 matches will be held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi and the Kiwi star feels the tournament will “certainly” give him a “head-start” going into the T20 World Cup 2021.
As reported by ESPNcricinfo, Jamieson said: “It certainly gives us, [and] me a little bit of a head-start in terms of getting used to those conditions and those grounds.”
The tall pacer added, “It's nice to have a block of T20 cricket going into the World Cup and, like I said, just a good chance to practice some T20 skillsets in the venues we're going to be playing on.”
Meanwhile, Jamieson said about learnings from the first half of the IPL 14, “I think it was good to have the first block of T20 cricket and, I guess, you are constantly reviewing that and try and see what the plans are at certain stages of the game, certain conditions, different grounds, different batters.”
He signed off by saying, “I guess there's no specifics around that sort of stuff. But just being involved around T20 cricket for a period of time, sort of, allows you to get into that sort of a mode.”
