The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is hopeful of extending the contract of their batting consultant Ashwell Prince till the end of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 which will be held in the UAE and Oman.

BCB's Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan on Monday, July 26, revealed that they are in talks with Prince regarding an extension to his contract and hopes to reach an agreement soon.

Akram Khan told Cricbuzz: “We are talking with him (Prince) about extending his contract and we are hopeful soon we will be able to reach an agreement. At this point getting a new batting consultant is difficult and he has performed reasonably well in Zimbabwe so we are keen to have him in our coaching set-up.”

Prince and Rangana Herath both were appointed as the batting and spin bowling consultant respectively in early June. However, the former South African cricketer was appointed only for the recently-concluded tour of Zimbabwe, but Herath was contracted till the end of the T20 World Cup 2021.

He had replaced Jon Lewis as Bangladesh’s batting consultant and became the third South African after head coach Russell Domingo and fielding coach Ryan Cook in the Tigers’ current coaching set-up

The 44-year-old is also a Level 3 coach. Prince coached the Cape Cobras and served as the batting consultant for South Africa A as well as functioning as the A team's interim head coach.
