
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (March 10) announced a cash reward worth Rs 131 crore for the India cricket team after they scripted history by winning a record third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title.
The Men in Bue outclassed New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at Ahmedabad on Sunday (March 8), thereby becoming the first team to defend the title.
“The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future," BCCI said in a statement on Tuesday.
Suryakumar Yadav's men also earned a a total of USD 3 million (approximately INR 27.48 crore) from the International Cricket Council for their T20 World Cup 2026 triumph. This was part of a tournament prize pool of USD 13.5 million, marking a 20% increase from the previous edition.
India's campaign was nearly flawless as they lost only one match en route to winning their third title. They defeated USA, Namibia, Pakistan and Netherlands in the group stage, before losing to South Africa in the Super 8s.
However, the team bounced back brilliantly and outclassed Zimbabwe, West Indies, England and New Zealand in the remainder of the tournament to lift the coveted trophy.
