Mike Hesson, Pakistan's white-ball coach, has come under fire following his team's ouster from the Super 8 stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Following the reported resignation of Pakistan selector Aleem Dar, who cited Hesson's control over selection considerations as a concern, a new report claims that the head coach's conduct irritated certain players during the T20 World Cup, prompting the PCB to receive numerous complaints.
Hesson's "planning, authority and man-management" throughout the World Cup has drawn criticism from players.
Senior officials have started assessing his behavior and looking over the trip report before having a thorough conversation with the New Zealand coach, even though the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is unlikely to fire him right away due to the accusations.
According to the Geo News article, the PCB is getting ready to issue a formal warning to Hesson about "flawed planning and unilateral decision-making harmed the team’s performance."
According to reliable sources who spoke with Geo News, Hesson's expanding power has caused problems for Salman Agha, the captain, and the selection committee. Indeed, Dar reportedly quit the selection committee for the same reason.
Notably, Agha was clearly irritated with Hesson in the dugout in a video during the World Cup campaign. The report further stated that "several Pakistan players are said to have individually approached PCB officials to complain about the coach's behavior," despite Pakistan dismissing the rumors.
The report also alleged that Hesson's domineering style unnerved the Pakistani dressing room, with the head coach making critical choices without consulting the captain and intervening in many elements of team administration.
It was reportedly his decision to keep Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafay, and Abrar Ahmed out of the playing XI until their final appearance against Sri Lanka.
