The ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is at the fag end of the group stage matches, with teams confirmed for the Super 8 phase of the competition.
Pakistan’s victory over Namibia in Colombo on Wednesday (February 18) completed the Super 8s lineup, with Salman Ali Agha’s side and India progressing from Group A, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from Group B, West Indies and England from Group C and South Africa and New Zealand from Group D.
The teams booking their tickets to the Super 8 round have earned automatic spots to the 2028 edition of the tournament. As co-hosts of the next edition, Australia and New Zealand already held guaranteed entry to the marquee event.
The final three automatic qualifying spots will be taken up by the next three highest-ranked teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings at a 9 March cut-off, the day after the tournament final.
Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland are set to take those spots, with no upcoming international fixtures scheduled that could alter their rankings before the cut-off date.
The remaining eight spots in the 20-team field will be determined through regional qualifiers, with allocations based on the relative competitive strength of each region.
