Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan shared an amazing reel on Instagram after the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2026 match on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in a one-sided affair.
India was asked to bat first after Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss. India endured an early setback as Abhishek Sharma registered his second duck of the tournament, but Ishan Kishan counterattacked brilliantly, hammering 77 off 40 balls with 10 fours and three sixes at the SSC Colombo.
After his dismissal, run-scoring became difficult, though Suryakumar Yadav (32), Tilak Varma (25), and Shivam Dube (27) guided India to a competitive 175/7. Saim Ayub starred with 3/25 as Pakistan deployed six spinners.
Pakistan’s much-vaunted batting lineup faltered against India’s pace duo. Hardik Pandya struck in the first over to remove Sahibzada Farhan for a duck, while Jasprit Bumrah dismissed both Saim Ayub and Salman Agha in his opening burst. Babar Azam also failed to settle, falling for five to Axar Patel.
Usman Khan (44) and Shadab Khan (14) offered brief resistance, but the rising required rate triggered regular wickets. Pakistan was eventually bowled out for 114 in 18 overs, despite Shaheen Afridi’s unbeaten 23, handing India a 61-run win. It was India’s third Group A victory, sealing qualification for the Super Eights.
