Italy hammered Nepal by 10 wickets to record a historic first-ever win in the Men's T20 World Cup, producing a clinical show in only the second match of their maiden appearance in the showpiece tournament, in Mumbai on Thursday (February 12).
Both sides entered this Group C fixture desperate for points after suffering losses in their respective opening fixtures, but Nepal carried significant momentum following a narrow close four-run defeat to England. However, Italy outclassed the Rohit Paudel-led side in all facets of the game.
Opting to bowl first, Ben Manenti (2/9) and Crishan Kalugamage (3/18) stifled Nepal batters in a remarkable display of spin bowling, as Italy bundled out their opponents for a paltry 123 in 19.3 overs.
Chasing 124, Italy knocked off the runs with 44 deliveries to spare. Brothers Anthony Mosca (62* off 32) and Justin Mosca (60* off 44) put on a ruthless unbeaten opening stand to crush Nepal.
Cricket fraternity showered rich praise on the Italian cricket team for their clinical display against Nepal.
