There is a lot of excitement for Pakistan’s next T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match against the USA on Tuesday (February 10) in Colombo.

The fixture is drawing attention as the Men in Green were humbled by the USA in a Super Over during the 2024 edition of T20 World Cup in Dalls. As a result of this defeat, the 2009 champions were knocked out of the tournament in the group stage.

As the two sides are slated to square off again, USA's spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Mohsin issued warning to the Salman Ali Agha-led side on the eve of the contest.

Mohsin reminded Pakistan of the outcome of their last meeting, and hence the pressure would truly be on the Asian heavyweights.

“We only discussed the positives that we gained from the last game and against Pakistan, because we have beaten them once. I think the pressure is all on them. Anyway, we don't have anything to lose in this World Cup. We are just enjoying our journey, and I think the way it started, it seems to be an exciting one, and hopefully, with tomorrow's win, it's going to be even better,” Mohsin said in the pre-match presser.

Pakistan managed to escape a humiliation at the hands of Netherlands in their T20 World Cup 2026 opener in Colombo last Saturday.

Chasing 148 to win, the Men in Green needed 29 runs off the last two overs with Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi at the crease.

Faheem got a reprieve on the second delivery of the penultimate over as his mis-hit off Logan van Beek’s full toss was dropped by Max O'Dowd. Following the lifeline, the Pakistan all-rounder smashed van Beek for two more sixes and a four and put his team within touching distance of victory at the end of the 19th over.

Faheem eventually hit Bas de Leede for a four on the third delivery of the final over to seal the deal for Pakistan with three wickets to spare.

Mohsin backed the USA to give tough time to Pakistan, saying that their team is a little stronger than the previous edition.

“We have a lot more skilful team, even though the last team was skilful as well, but we have increased in skill level. So we are hoping to have a good game against them tomorrow and hopefully win again,” he stated.

When asked whether the current crop of players has revisited the last win over Pakistan, Mohsin replied, “We spoke about it in a way where we carry forward that confidence we gained from beating them in the last World Cup, and hopefully tomorrow we will be more confident than last time, and we'll have a good fight against them.”

The USA side, led by Monank Patel, gave tough time to defending champions India in their campaign opener. At one stage, the hosts were reeling at 77/6, before skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s 84* off 49 balls propelled India to 161/9 in 20 overs. In the end, the total proved enough, as the USA fell 29 runs short.

“Yeah, I think that first game was a massive one for us, even though we ended up losing, but we gained a lot of confidence, especially as a bowling unit,” Mohsin said.

“In the practice games as a bowling unit, we struggled a bit; our batting is our strong core, but that last game has given us a lot of confidence, and I think you will see in the future games - we as a bowling group will be doing better and better every game,” he added.
