The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on February 6, 2026, confirmed that Delhi pacer Harshit Rana will miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 that begins on February 7. The tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with the final slated on March 8.
As the Men in Blue prepare to face the USA in the T20 World Cup 2026 opening on February 7 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Harshit Rana's absence from the tournament is a huge disappointment.
Rana injured his knee during India's T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match against South Africa earlier this week in Navi Mumbai. He had to leave the field after feeling pain in his knee and pulling out of his bowling stride twice in one over.
“Team India pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after sustaining a knee injury during the warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai on February 4th, 2026. Following consultations with a specialist and subsequent scans, the BCCI medical team deemed him unfit to participate in the tournament. The team management wishes him a speedy recovery,” BCCI confirmed in an official statement.
In the same media release, BCCI also confirmed that pacer Mohammed Siraj has been called in as a replacement for Harshit Rana.
