With less than two months left for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the BCCI’s senior men’s selection committee is all set to hold a meeting at its Mumbai headquarters on Saturday (December 20) to finalize India's squad for the global showpiece.
During the meeting, the Ajit Agarkar-led panel will also select India's squad for the next month's white-ball series, comprising three ODIs and five T20Is, against New Zealand at home.
The Indian team is currently playing a five-T20I series against South Africa at home, with the final game of the series scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on Friday (December 19).
"The Senior Men's Selection Committee will meet at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai, on Saturday, to pick India's squad for the T20I series against New Zealand and the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. It will be followed by a press conference to be addressed by captain Suryakumar Yadav and selection committee chairperson Ajit Agarkar," BCCI said in a statement.
The five-match T20I series against New Zealand will be the final dress rehearsal for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, the matches of which will be played from February 7 to March 8 across five venues in India and three in Sri Lanka.
India will begin their T20 World Cup title defence against the USA in Mumbai on February 7. They then take on Namibia in Delhi on February 12. The Men in Blue will travel to Colombo to face arch-rivals Pakistan on February 15, while their final group game is scheduled against the Netherlands in Ahmedabad on February 18.
