The International Cricket Council (ICC) is anticipated to reveal the schedule in the next few days, and Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium has been selected to host the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final.
According to The Indian Express report, top BCCI officials met and decided that the T20 World Cup will be hosted in fewer places than the 2023 ICC World Cup was.
Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai have been shortlisted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with each venue anticipated to host at least six games. Three stadiums in Sri Lanka are reportedly going to host the T20 World Cup games, but it's unclear which ones.
With India co-hosting the T20 World Cup 2026 with Sri Lanka, there is no clarity on whether Bengaluru and Lucknow will be among the venues for the tournament.
The grounds that hosted the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 will not be considered for the Men’s T20 World Cup competition, according to a decision already made by the BCCI. The Women's ODI World Cup matches were held at Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Navi Mumbai.
In the meantime, the BCCI has also been informed by the ICC that Sri Lanka will play in Colombo if it advances to the semi-finals. Additionally, the tournament’s final will be held at a neutral venue if Pakistan advances.
The BCCI has reportedly finalized that the India-Pakistan match of the T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in Colombo, as per the agreement signed by the BCCI and PCB for the ICC tournaments.
