Former Pakistan cricketer Junaid Khan believes India’s bowling line-up is zero in the absence of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. His assessment came after the Men in Blue suffered a 2-0 defeat in the just-concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Spinners from both sides ruled the roost in the 50-over series. However, the Sri Lankan bowlers were more effective as they bundled out India in all three games. On the other hand, the visiting bowlers allowed the home batters to forge partnerships on turning tracks.
Taking to social media platform X, Junaid opined that the Indian attack is toothless without Bumrah. He also sought the views of his fans and followers.
“Would you agree? Without Bumrah, india's bowling is zero... #INDvSL #SLVSIND,” Junaid wrote.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the entire white-ball tour of Sri Lanka after he played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph about a month ago.
Bumrah finished the showpiece event with 15 wickets at an economy of 4.50, earning him the Player-of-the-Tournament award.
In his absence, the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh led the Indian pace battery in Sri Lanka but they failed to create much impact, especially in the ODI series. In fact, Arshdeep was dropped from the playing XI in the third ODI as they visitors handed the debut cap to spin all-rounder Riyan Parag.
Bumrah is likely to return to action for the home Test series against Bangladesh, scheduled to get underway on September 19 in Chennai.
