Ace India cricketer Virat Kohli was seen performing the Bihu dance from Assam in celebration after taking a catch in the ongoing second ODI between Sri Lanka and India on August 4, 2024, in Colombo.

After the first ODI between the two sides ended in a thrilling tie, Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka continued his luck with the coin and won the toss. He decided to bat first on a similar-looking surface.

India came into this match unchanged and Mohammed Siraj gave India the perfect start by removing the dangerous Pathum Nissanka on the first ball of the Sri Lankan innings. Then Kusal Mendis (30) and Avishka Fernando (40) added 74 runs for the second wicket. But then Washington Sundar struck twice in a row and dismissed both the set batters.

Sadeera Samarawickrama took 31 balls to get set and score 14 runs with one four but lost his patience against Akshar Patel. He tried to step out and hit over mid-on, but Akshar slowed the ball in the air and Sadeera only managed to slice the ball in the air.

Virat Kohli peddled back to take a simple and easy catch at covers. However, interestingly, Kohli did the Bihu dance step while looking at Riyan Parag in the dugout during the celebrations.

Bihu dance is a traditional dance form from Assam, the native of Riyan Parag. Parag had previously done the Bihu dance in IPL after reaching milestones. And now Virat Kohli did the same as a tribute to Parag and Assam state.
