SL v IND 2024: WATCH- ‘Not here’- Virat Kohli angered by a fan calling him ‘Chokli’ in front of India teammates

Kohli will be seen in action when India takes on Sri Lanka in first ODI on August 2nd in Colombo.

Virat Kohli | BCCIVirat Kohli is prepping hard for the upcoming three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and India. This series will begin on August 2nd onwards and will be played at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo.

India already clean swept the three T20I series on Tuesday, with a super over win in the third T20I in Kandy. Now the focus will turn to the ODI series given that India only has six ODIs in total to play before next year’s Champions Trophy tournament.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be seen in action for India and they have been training hard for the series. Kohli landed in Sri Lanka on Monday morning and while his and the rest of the ODI arrivals' first practice session on Monday was cancelled due to rain in Colombo,

In a viral video, Kohli got upset when a fan seemingly abused him with slang in front of his India teammates. Kohli was going through his motions when a fan started chanting 'Chokli-Chokli', which quickly drew Kohli's attention.

Trolls on social media call Kohli 'Chokli'. The nickname is a combination of Virat Kohli's surname and the word 'choking', referring to their view that Kohli fails in big, knockout matches for India.

The term initially appeared following India's elimination from the 2019 World Cup, when Kohli was removed for one. Kohli was removed for one in an ICC knockout game for the third time, having done so in the 2015 World Cup semifinal against Australia and the 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan.

Therefore, when the fan chanted ‘Chokli’ at Virat Kohli, he did not take it kindly and responded by saying: 'Not here'.
