In reply, Pathum Nissanka made 26 runs, but the bulk of the scoring came from Kusal Mendis (43) and Kusal Perera (46). The two Kusals added 52 runs together with Sri Lanka needing very few runs for the win.

But India put immense pressure on Sri Lankan batting and they lost 7 wickets in 22 runs to finish on 137/8, managing to tie the match. For India, Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav bowled the 19th and 20th overs respectively, and picked two wickets each.

Apart from them, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi also took 2 wickets each.

In the super over, Sundar conceded just 2 runs, one coming off a wide, and dismissed Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka in consecutive balls to restrict Sri Lanka to 2 runs. In reply, Suryakumar Yadav hit a four off Maheesh Theekshana on the first ball and won the super over for India.

Washington Sundar won the Player of the Match award and Suryakumar Yadav was the Player of the Series.
