India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has acknowledged the support he has received from India’s new T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill in recent times.

Bishnoi’s comments came after his match-winning spell against Sri Lanka in the second T20I in Pallekele on Sunday (July 28).

The 23-year-old picked by three wickets by conceding 26 runs in his four overs, which helped India restrict Sri Lanka to 161/9 in 20 overs.

After India won the rain-marred game by eight wickets, Bishnoi, who was adjudged Player-of-the-Match, revealed that Suryakumar has been a great leader and he enjoyed bowling under him.

Bishnoi also praised Shubman for how he encouraged him during the T20I tour of Zimbabwe earlier this month.

"Suryakumar is doing great captaincy. I have played under him during the Australia series as well. He has been good. Shubman Gill's captaincy was also great. In Zimbabwe, we also did great as a captain. They always back me and as a bowler you cannot ask for anything more than this when the captain backs you. Suryakumar and Shubman have both backed me," Bishnoi said in the post-match press conference.

With this victory, India took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. The new era under captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir started off on a great note as the Men in Blue will now aim for a clean sweep.

Talking about his bond with newly appointed head coach Gambhir, Bishnoi said: "I am sharing a great bond with Gautam Gambhir as he has been with LSG for two years. He has not asked me to change anything as such. He has told me to do what I am doing currently. His advice was useful to me earlier as well, and now too."

Bishnoi used the spin-friendly track to his advantage as he troubled the Sri Lankan batters, who are known for their exceptional game against spin.

"They play spin really well, but I don't know what has happened to them. They collapsed between the middle overs, and they were known as a good spin-playing team, but I think something has gone wrong," Bishnoi said.

“Yesterday's injury was left behind only. I feel good to be able to contribute for the team and help India win. There is no regret about not getting a hat-trick. It's not in my hand," he further remarked.

The dead-rubber third T20I between India and Sri Lanka will be held in Pallekele on Tuesday (July 30).
