Hardik Pandya, the Indian all-rounder, was seen hugging new assistant coach Abhishek Nayar at the Mumbai airport as the Indian team departed to Sri Lanka for the limited-over tour starting July 27.

India is set to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20is in Sri Lanka with the first T20I beginning on July 27 and the ODIs starting on August 2nd.

Suryakumar Yadav has been chosen as India's new T20I captain, following the retirement of senior players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has returned to captain in ODIs and Virat Kohli will also play in T20Is.

Shubman Gill, on the other hand, has been named the new vice-captain of both the ODI and T20I teams, succeeding experienced all-rounders Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.

Recently, Hardik Pandya suffered on both professional and personal front. While he was the vice-captain of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team and was primed to take over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma in T20Is; Pandya was overlooked in T20Is, with Surya taking over as captain.

Hardik was also removed as vice-captain in both formats. On the personal front, Pandya divorced his wife Natasa and the two put out a joint statement on social media on the issue.

Meanwhile, as the Indian players arrived at the airport to travel to Sri Lanka, Hardik Pandya was seen hugging new Indian assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. He also hugged other support staff and was seen in good spirits.

Hardik Pandya will only play the T20Is, as he requested leave from the ODIs series, which the BCCI granted.
