Ravindra Jadeja is back in India’s Test squad after being rested for the one-off Test match against Afghanistan in June.
The veteran all-rounder will hold a key for India with both bat and ball in the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, slated to get underway on August 15 in Galle.
In order to acclimatize to the local conditions and fine-tune their preparations, India are playing a three-day warm-up fixture against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo.
On Day 2 of the practice match, Jadeja scored an unbeaten half-century while batting at No. 4. He retired out on 63 to give opportunity to other Indian batters.
During the closing stages of the day’s play, Jadeja looked in a jovial mood while talking to India head coach Gautam Gambhir in the dressing room.
In a clip doing rounds on social media, Jadeja was also seen hilariously mimicking teammate Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling action. His imitation also left Gambhir in splits.
Here’s the video:
Devdutt Padikkal stayed unbeaten on 142 while Gurnoor Brar produced a cameo of 18-ball 36* as India ended the day’s play at 357/6 in 90 overs. The visitors now sit just six runs behind Sri Lanka Cricket XI's first-innings declared total of 363/8.
With this knock, Padikkal strengthened his case for a place in India’s playing XI for the opening Test. Since Sai Sudharsan has been ruled out of the series after failing to recover from his toe injury, Padikkal now looks well placed to take up the No. 3 spot.
