Indian team departed for Sri Lanka for the upcoming two-Test series on August 4, 2026. This series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2027) cycle and will be important for both India and Sri Lanka as they remain in the race for the summit clash.
The first Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Galle from August 15 onwards, while the second and final Test will be played at the SSC ground in Colombo from August 23 onwards.
Several videos have gone viral on social media, showing Indian team players deboarding from the bus at the airport. Indian captain Shubman Gill, vice-captain KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Siraj were seen in the video.
Another video showed Shubman Gill boarding the bus and greeting Gautam Gambhir, among other Indian team officials.
Notably, a report in Sportstar stated that the Indian team will also travel with three spinners for net practice. Off-spinner Tanush Kotian, left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey and leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam will travel with the Indian team to Sri Lanka.
India already has Manav Suthar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Saransh Jain in the main squad, apart from pacers Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar.
