Swarm of Flying ants interrupted the South African innings | X

The ongoing third T20I of the 4-match series between South Africa and India that is being played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, saw a bizarre reason causing interruption during the start of South African innings.

Aiden Markram had won the toss and chose that South Africa will bowl first. And thanks to Tilak Varma’s excellent maiden T20I ton, as he scored 107* and Abhishek Sharma’s 50, India posted 219/6 in 20 overs.

Keshav Maharaj and Andile Simelane picked two wickets each for the Proteas.

Play had to be halted due to insects after Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks scored seven runs in one over after India had set the goal of 220 for the hosts, South Africa.

There were numerous flying ants on the ground when the second inning got underway and the players from both teams arrived on the field. Arshdeep Singh let up just seven runs in the over while beginning the innings with the ball for the visitors.

The umpires were then observed discussing the situation, and it was decided to leave the field due to the large number of flying ants there. The groundskeepers had to use a machine to get rid of the numerous insects that were on the field.

The delay led to cricket fans on X sharing their reactions to the bizarre interruption in Centurion as South Africa just began their chase.
