KL Rahul proved to be a hero for India as his brilliant century helped the visitors post a very good total in the so far rain-affected first Test against South Africa in Centurion.
India had ended day one on 208/8 with Rahul unbeaten on 70 and had Mohammed Siraj for company. The first day had been a mixed bag for India as they had lost 6 wickets for 121 runs at one time with Kagiso Rabada taking a fifer. Virat Kohli made 38, Shreyas Iyer made 31 and Shardul Thakur had contributed 24 runs.
It was KL Rahul, who had saved India major blushes with important partnerships, adding 43 runs for the 7th wicket with Shardul Thakur. He then added 27 runs with Jasprit Bumrah and 47 crucial runs with Mohammed Siraj.
KL Rahul was looking for his century and got it in style as he hit Gerald Coetzee for a massive six to bring up his three figures. This was Rahul’s 8th Test century and 7th outside home. He was the final wicket to fall for 101 runs with 14 fours and 4 sixes in his knock as India ended with 245 in their first innings.
