South Africa and India are set to clash in the first Test of the two-match series which begins in Centurion’s SuperSport Park from December 26 onwards. And ahead of the match, ace India batter Virat Kohli was seen sweating it out in the nets.
Kohli had reportedly made a short trip to London to be with his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, and couldn’t play in the intra-squad match in Pretoria. Kohli was rested for the two white-ball series against the Proteas, along with captain Rohit Sharma and pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
Kohli has an excellent record in Tests in South Africa with 719 runs in 7 matches with two centuries and an average of 51.53. The first Test of this series will be Kohli’s 112th match in red-ball international cricket. He has 8676 runs in 111 Tests so far with an average of 49.29. He has hit 29 centuries and 29 fifties with the highest score of 254*.
The former India captain will want to perform to the best of his abilities and help India realize its goal of winning a Test series in South Africa for the first time. And to do this, he was seen in action in the net session ahead of the Centurion Tests.
