Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan has staked a claim for a spot in the Indian Test team for the upcoming two-Test series against South Africa as he hammered a brutal century in the ongoing intra-squad match in Pretoria.
He traveled with India A side to South Africa for an unofficial ‘Test’ series against South Africa A. However, as the Indian team prepares for the South Africa Tests, the management decided to have an intra-squad match featuring players from both senior team and India A squad.
This match is being played at the Tuks Oval in Pretoria behind closed doors with media entry not allowed as India intends to keep their cards close to their chest.
However, a video went viral on social media, that showed highlights from Sarfaraz Khan’s scintillating century which came off just 63 balls. In the video, he is seen facing the likes of Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana, Saurabh Kumar, and others.

This century puts Sarfaraz Khan in contention for a spot in the Indian Test side as Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the Test series against South Africa due to a finger injury.
According to a report in Wisden India, Shubman Gill also scored a hundred in the intra-squad game. Gill, who batted at No.3 in the West Indies earlier this year, is expected to continue in that position as India prepares to move on from Cheteshwar Pujara.
