Team India's fielding coach, T Dilip, has been widely applauded for introducing a new tradition of honoring the best fielder after every game. This tradition began before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and positively influenced the on-field performances of all players.

Dilip has now modified this popular tradition by not only recognizing the top fielder of each match but also awarding a medal to the best performer of the entire series.

Following the conclusion of the T20I leg of the South Africa tour, Dilip announced the introduction of the 'Impact Fielder' Medal within the Indian dressing room.

The first recipient of this revamped medal was Mohammed Siraj, who was outstanding while fielding against South Africa, which ended at 1-1 after Team India won the third game by 106 runs on December 14.

T. Dilip can be heard saying in a video on BCCI.tv: “Now we are introducing Impact Fielder of the Series, with which we are recognising consistency, alertness and the impact you make not only in one game but also throughout the series.”

Talking about the importance of having good fielders in the T20 format, Dilip highlighted Rinku Singh's skills, athleticism, and excellence during the T20I series in South Africa. Rinku was the first person considered for the Impact Fielder of the T20I Series medal.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was also lauded by the fielding coach for taking important catches. After announcing all the candidates, Dilip declared Siraj the winner of the medal for his quickness and smart playing.
