Tabraiz Shamsi was named the Player of the Match in South Africa’s victory in the second T20I of the three-match series against India which was played in Gqeberha on December 12, 2023. In the rain-affected match, Proteas registered a 5-wicket win via the DLS method.

Rinku Singh once again provided the finishing touch with 68* with 9 fours and 2 sixes, while Ravindra Jadeja scored 19 runs as India posted 180/7 in 19.3 overs as rain ended the innings early. For Proteas, Gerald Coetzee took 3/32.
Suryakumar Yadav’s innings was ended by Tabraiz Shamsi in the 14th over. The Indian captain misread the googly from the left-arm wrist spinner and his lofted shot was a mistimed one. Suryakumar ended up handing a simple catch to Marco Jansen at long-off.
Tabraiz Shamsi was over the moon after picking the wicket of the Indian skipper and brought out his trademark shoe-phone celebration in which he removes his shoe and acts to use it as a mobile phone to call someone.
