Rinku Singh starred with the bat for India in the second T20I against South Africa in Gqeberha on Tuesday (December 12).
Batting at No. 5, the southpaw slammed 68 not out off 39 balls, helping the visitors post 180/7 on the board in 19.3 overs before the rain interrupted play.
Rinku’s knock was studded with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Both of his sixes came in the penultimate over while facing Aiden Markram.
The second maximum which he hit travelled a lot and ended up shattering the glass of the media box. The video of the same is going viral on the internet.
However, Rinku Singh hilariously apologised for breaking the glass after the match.
"When I hit the shot for a six, I didn't know I had broken the glass. When you (the media person) came, only then I came to know about it. I am sorry that," Rinku said while speaking to bcci.tv.
Unfortunately, Rinku’s valiant knock went in vain as South Africa defeated India by five wickets to take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
Chasing the revised target of 152 in 15 overs, the Proteas got over the finishing line with seven deliveries to spare. Reeza Hendricks was the top-scorer for South Africa with 49 runs off just 27 balls while skipper Aiden Markram played a brilliant knock of 30 in 17 balls.
