The Indian team has arrived in Durban ahead of the three-match T20I series which marks the beginning of India’s tour of South Africa 2023-24. The tour will also see India playing 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches.

The first T20I will be played on December 10 in Durban, the second on December 12 in Gqberha, and the last T20I on December 14 in Johannesburg. The three ODIs will be played on December 17, 19, and 21 at Johannesburg, Gqeberha, and Paarl.

The two-Test series will begin with the first Test starting on December 26 in Centurion and the second and final Test is at Newlands in Cape Town from January 3.

Apart from this, India A will play three games as well- from December 11-14, December 20-22, and December 26-29.

Though India starts their first training session on Friday morning at the Kingsmead ground, there are still a couple of players left to join the squad in South Africa. The likes of Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Deepak Chahar are yet to arrive in the country.

Sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have revealed that star opener Shubman Gill will also join his teammates, flying in from the UK. Gill went on a holiday post the World Cup final on November 19. Ravindra Jadeja, the vice-captain in T20Is, is also in Europe and will join the team in South Africa soon.

On the other hand, Deepak Chahar has not traveled with the side to South Africa due to a family issue back home. His father has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke and it is still not clear when the pacer will be able to fly to South Africa. However, sources say he could reach there soon and no replacement for him has not been named.

Cricbuzz also reported that all of them have taken permission from the BCCI to join the team, as has a member of the support staff. All are expected to be in Durban well in time before the first match on December 10.

Selectors SS Das and Salil Ankola are also reportedly flying to South Africa because of two teams and the large number of matches, including T20Is, ODIs, Tests, and three India A games.
