Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Titans’ (GT) talented top-order batter B Sai Sudharsan has earned his first call-up to India's ODI squad for the upcoming tour of South Africa on November 30.

The 22-year-old caught everyone's attention with his impressive performance in the IPL, including a stellar knock of 96 against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 final.

Sudharsan has consistently lived up to expectations in all three formats of the game, and now, two years after starting his journey in domestic cricket, the talented cricketer has paid off his hard work.

He is currently playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023, and he kicked off the one-day tournament with a century. And now he is very close to realizing his dream of representing India at the highest level.

Sai Sudharsan was quoted as saying by Sportstar: “It is a great feeling, and I am a bit lost for words. It is a dream come true for me, but at the same time, this is just the beginning, and there are many areas where I need to improve.”

Sudharsan attributed his progress as a player to the IPL and Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

He added, “I think the TNPL in 2021 and this year’s IPL have been some of the key moments in my career so far and helped me progress. I learnt a lot playing in all these tournaments, and the exposure it has given me has helped me improve as a batter.”

However, the young batter is currently focusing on helping Tamil Nadu to make it to the knockouts of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He signed off by saying, “But my first goal is to just focus on my match tomorrow (Friday) against Punjab and help the team qualify for the knockouts.”

Notably, India’s South Africa tour will get underway from December 10 with a three-match T20I series followed by three-match ODI series from December 17. They will also play 2 Tests on the tour.
