Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed is in trouble after racially abusing South African all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo during the second ODI at Durban on Tuesday.

Sarfraz was irritated after the Phehlukwayo played a match-winning knock after picking up four wickets in the match. South Africa was five down on 80 while chasing a target of 204. But Andile and Van der Dussen put up an unbeaten partnership to win the game.

In the 37th over the chase, Sarfraz was caught on the stump mic saying: "Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya parwa ke aaye hai aaj?" (Hey black guy, where's your mother sitting today? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?)

He had to apologize for his comment. But Sarfraz's apology on Twitter was loose and ill-defined.

"I certainly had no intention of upsetting anyone," he wrote on Twitter.

"I wish to extend my sincere apologies to any person who may have taken offence from my expression of frustration which was unfortunately caught by the stump mic during yesterday's game against SA," Sarfraz said.

"My words were not directed towards anyone in particular. I did not even mean for my words to be heard, understood or communicated to the opposing team or the cricket fans.

"I have in the past and will continue in future to appreciate the camaraderie of my fellow cricketers from across the globe and will always respect and honour them on and off the field," he wrote.

The Pakistan cricketer was slammed by social media users for a poor apology.

Here is how Twitter reacted:
