Scott Styris denounces Australia cricket team for running Azhar Ali out

Styris related the incident with New Zealand cricket's attempt to run out Muttiah Muralitharan.

Azhar Ali's hilarious run out has caused some controversy

While many saw the funny side of Azhar Ali's run-out against Australia, where he was found outside the crease thinking the ball has reached the boundary; former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris sees the serious side of the incident.

He believes Australia should be criticized for attempting a run-out in this fashion. He also recalled an incident where New Zealand cricket had to face damnation of cricket world for running Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan out in the same way.

Murali was run-out by Kiwis after he left the crease to celebrate his batting partner Kumar Sangakkara's century, thinking the ball is already dead after completing a run. However, the ball wasn't even thrown by the fielder, and as soon as Murai went out of the safety line, wicket-keeper Brendon McCullum dislodged the bails. Not only Muttiah, but even Sangakkara was also surprised when he saw New Zealand cricketers celebrating.

In Azhar's case, he assumed the ball has reached the boundary after playing it down to the third man. Even his batting partner, Asad Shafiq wasn't aware of it. Both started having a chat in the middle of the pitch before Aussie captain Tim Paine disturbed the stumps and Azhar had to walk back in disbelief.

Condemning Australia, Styris called it bad sportsmanship and wrote, "I’m just waiting for the condemnation of Australia....again....for enforcing the run out in Abu Dhabi! You know, like NZ received for the Murali runout in 06. #dumbcricket or #badsportsmanship #dumb."
