Ahead of India’s showdown in the final of the ongoing Twenty-20 tri-series against Bangladesh on Sunday, Rohit Sharma seems to be in a cheerful mood. The stand-in India skipper on Saturday (March 17) was seen taking some Sinhala lessons from two ardent Sri Lanka fans.

In a video posted by BCCI on their official Twitter page, Rohit can be seen holding a mike on his hand and asking the two Lankan fans about the Sinhala terminologies of some commonly used words and chit-chat.

“@ImRo45 takes Sinhala lessons from locals. The Indian captain decided to meet two of his most dear fans from Sri Lanka and took lessons in Sinhala from them. Could he get some of the words right? Watch it all here,” the BCCI wrote in the caption.

In the video, Rohit introduced the Lankan fans, saying: “Hello guys! Today is a very special day for us as I have two special guests with me. On my left is Mr. Nilam – one of the true supporters of Sri Lanka cricket and on my right is Gyan, another popular face in Sri Lanka cricket. You must have seen these two guys whenever Sri Lanka plays cricket wherever in the world. Whenever they have time, they travel to Sri Lanka just like we have Sudhir and few of the other guys travel with us.”

Subsequently, Rohit asked Gayan Senanayake and Mohammed Nilam to translate the terms like ‘How are you’ and ‘What is my name’ in Sinhalese language.

Sharma concluded by saying that he loves visiting Sri Lanka and their culture. The 30-year-old also said that he will make his team-mates understand the Sinhala terminologies as well.

After registering a series of low scores in his last few T20I innings, Rohit Sharma finally played a meaningful knock in the ongoing Twenty-20 tri-series against Bangladesh on Thursday (March 14). Sharma scored a classy 61-ball 89 as the Men in Blue beat Bangladesh by 17 runs to secure their birth in the final.
