India’s T20I vice-captain Tilak Varma is likely to be added to the India A squad for the upcoming third multi-day game against New Zealand A. The third unofficial test will be played on November 7 in Lincoln.

The first game was drawn and was also played in Lincoln, while the second game is underway in Christchurch.

As per a Times of India report, the selectors are hoping that he gets a bit of red ball practice, while the scheduling provides an opportunity for him to play in one four-day game before being part of the ODI squad for the last two games in Tauranga.

While Tilak is not in the squad for the first three ODIs, he has no cricketing action planned between November 2 and November 13, when the fourth ODI will be played. He might soon get asked to join the India A squad in Christchurch.

On the other hand, ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah leaves India for New Zealand on November 1. Bumrah will travel from Bengaluru, where he was at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) for an assessment on October 25 for a routine assessment ahead of the third unofficial Test and the two-match Test series.

"Bumrah didn't go to the CoE to increase his workload. It was just a routine assessment, and he has ticked all the necessary boxes before boarding the flight," a source tracking development told Times of India.

The source also revealed that Bumrah was supposed to travel to New Zealand with keeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is also at the BCCI CoE for rehabilitation. However, RTP (Return to Play) for Pant is on hold. The batter is still touch-and-go for the third unofficial Test and will continue to undergo treatment under the supervision of the BCCI medical team at the CoE.
