Team India was not at their best in the ODI series as well as the first Test in Wellington as the Kiwis won the three ODI series as 3-0 and are 1-0 up in this two-match Test series.
While a lot of cricket pundits and fans criticized the Indian bowling attack for their poor performance after the T20 series, Australian legend Glenn McGrath told the media that he has faith in the Indian bowling unit given it is a ‘world-class’ bowling attack.
“I still have total faith in the Indian (bowling) lineup. They had a few injuries of late. Sharma is coming back and he did get five wickets. Bumrah had a couple of injuries and he is coming back. So, yeah, I think the Indian bowling attack is world-class and there is no doubt about that,” McGrath said.
The right-arm pacer then taunted the Indian batting unit for not scoring enough runs as they lost the first Test match by 10 wickets.
“I don't have any issues with the bowling attack, you don't lose form overnight. It was just one of those things where the toss made a huge difference (in the first Test in New Zealand) but you still got to get and score runs,” he said.
The 50-year-old then praised pacer Ishant Sharma for his comeback to international cricket by saying, “Ishant has a lot of experience, the way he's a comeback in the last couple years, it been impressive. I thought his career might have been finished at the international level, but he has reinvented himself and he is bowling well.”
Thus, it will be interesting to see how the Indian team performs in the second and last Test of the series starting from Friday (29 February) at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
