Ross Taylor has received phone calls from his former captains Brendon McCullum and Daniel Vettori as he is all set to join them in the list of New Zealand players to play 100 Tests or more.

Stephen Fleming, Daniel Vettori, and Brendon McCullum are the three New Zealand cricketers who have played more than 100 Tests in their careers. Ross Taylor will join the list after stepping on the field for New Zealand at Wellington. Taylor got a call from both of them who wished him well before creating the record.

NZ v IND 2020: Never thought I would play Tests again after debut series, reveals Ross Taylor ahead of 100th Test

Taylor said, “I got a call from Brendon before we got here, saying 'all the best'. He said to do better than he did. I don't know what he got in his [100th] game. I asked if there were any tips to deal with ticket [requests].

McCullum played his 100th Test against Australia in 2016. He got a seven-ball duck and given that the Basin Reserve is Taylor’s favorite ground statistically, he will not have a problem doing better than Baz.

Vettori also called up Taylor and wished him for the amazing milestone. Taylor will also become the first-ever international cricketer to play 100 matches of all three formats.

Taylor said, “I got a message from Vettori last night as well. It's a special club to join and nice to hear from fellow players who've been there and done that.

The 35-year-old would be hoping to continue his purple patch and carry the form from white-ball cricket to red-ball cricket. He scored the second-most runs for the Kiwis in the T20I series as well as the ODI series against India.
