Lanky pacer Kyle Jamieson is set to make his international debut in the second ODI for New Zealand against India in Auckland on Saturday (February 8).

Standing at 6’8″, Jamieson was called into the national squad for the final two Tests against Australia but did not play. He was not considered in the playing XI against India in the first ODI at Hamilton on Wednesday (February 5) as well.

Addressing the media on the eve of the second ODI, interim Kiwi bowling coach Shane Jurgensen confirmed that Scott Kuggeleijn will not feature in the playing XI due to flu-like symptoms.

Moreover, leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has been released to play for New Zealand ‘A’ which means Jamieson would make his debut at Eden Park.

“He’s obviously a huge man, at 6 foot eight he’s quite an imposing sight, so we are looking forward to seeing what he can do,” Jurgensen said.

“He’s got good skills with the new ball, he’s a good athlete and he can bat a bit as well, so has a lot of potential.”

The Black Caps also received some pleasant news on Friday as injured skipper Kane Williamson and speedster Lockie Ferguson attended training in Auckland.

Williamson was ruled out of the first two games of the three-ODI series due to a shoulder injury he picked up in the third T20I against India.

On the other hand, Ferguson is out of action ever since sustaining a calf strain in the first Test against Australia in Perth last December.
