India's wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul is doing an excellent job in the newly assigned role. His bat and gloves both are helping him making a permanent place in the team. He smashed a half-century in the first T20I against New Zealand and played a big role in India's 204-run chase at Eden Park.
Rahul and Rishabh Pant are competing for the wicket-keeping role. The recent performance of KL has kept him ahead of Pant and that's why he has retained his place in the team.
In the press conference after the first T20I, Rahul was asked whether Pant can make a comeback to the playing XI? KL was surprised by the question and clearly looked like he has no idea how to answer it. Responding to the question, Rahul said, “It’s not up to me.”
