Former England captain Michael Vaughan decided to renew his social media rivalry with the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer after Team India suffered a massive defeat of 7 wickets in the opening ODI of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand on Friday (November 25) in Auckland.

Vaughan and Jaffer are quite famous for their banter on Twitter, and the Englishman couldn’t hold himself back from taking a dig at the former India opener following their defeat against the Black Caps at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.

Actually, after the Indian team’s defeat against New Zealand, Jaffer took to Twitter to laud the hosts for their clinical batting show while successfully chasing 307 runs for victory against Shikhar Dhawan and his team.

He also lauded Kane Williamson (94*) and Tom Latham (145*) for their remarkable outings with the bat, while mentioning India missed the trick play by playing only five bowlers at Eden Park.

Notably, New Zealand captain Williamson and Latham stitched an unbeaten partnership of 221 runs—one of the best-ever ODI partnerships—to take the hosts over the line with 7 wickets in hand to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against India.

Jaffer wrote on Twitter: “Well played @BLACKCAPS???????? Made 300 look like 270. Williamson all class as always but Latham stole the show. Not easy for an opener to move down the order and still be successful. India missed a trick by just playing 5 bowlers.”

Well, Vaughan was quick to notice Jaffer’s post and went on to target the India team for being an outdated ODI team. Describing New Zealand as a dated ODI team, Vaughan suggested India play with at least six or seven bowling options against the top teams to win matches.

He tweeted: “They are a dated ODI team... you need at least 6 if not 7 bowling options.”
