Suryakumar Yadav was the Player of the Match for his 111* in India's win vs NZ in second T20I.

India had made 191/6 batting first thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s amazing 111* in 51 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes. He scored 61 runs in his last 18 balls as he completed his second T20I ton in 2022. Apart from him, Ishan Kishan made 36 runs.

In reply, Deepak Hooda’s 4/10 and two wickets each from Mohammed Siraj and Yuzvendra Chahal kept New Zealand to 126 and India won by 65 runs.

In the after-match press-conference, Suryakumar Yadav talked about his knock and how he goes about his game. His amazing knock was appreciated by Virat Kohli as well, who called it a ‘videogame innings’ in a tweet.

Surya and Kohli were the two stars for India in the recent T20 World Cup 2022 as they ended up in the top three of the run-making charts with Kohli topping with 296 runs and Suryakumar making 239 runs.

During the presser, Suryakumar was asked about this same and he said that he will take it as a compliment and promised to carry on in the same style.

On playing with Kohli, Suryakumar said: “Recently we played some games together, had good partnerships, I enjoy batting with him (Kohli). One thing is that I have to run a lot because he is super fit, but, at the same time, when we are inside, we don’t talk a lot about the game, we know we respect each other’s game. I only tell him that you keep playing on one side and I will keep batting at the other end. He doesn’t say much, just tells me that keep batting the way you have been doing and enjoy it."
