Indian opener Abhishek Sharma created a new world record, achieving a new high of 931 rating points in the recent ICC T20I batting rankings update on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Abhishek achieved this record rating thanks to his stylish half-century during India's successful semi-final victory over Sri Lanka at the Asia Cup. With this knock, he went past the previous rating of 919 points, held by England’s Dawid Malan in 2020.
As a result, Abhishek extends his lead at the top of the T20I batting rankings. The left-hander also surpassed teammates Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav's previous best ratings before finishing the week with 926 rating points.
Despite only making his debut for his country last year, Abhishek has amassed an incredible record and won Player of the Tournament at the Asia Cup thanks to his 314 runs at an average of 44.85 and strike rate of 200.
