India A created history as they defeated Australia A by 5 wickets, after achieving a record chase of 412 runs in the second four-day match that was played in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, on September 26, 2025.
Australia A had been asked to bat first by India A captain Dhruv Jurel and posted 420 runs thanks to 76 from Todd Murphy, 74 from Nathan McSweeney, and 88 from Jack Edwards. Manav Suthar took 5/105 and Gurnoor Brar took three wickets.
India responded with 19,4 with Sai Sudharsan making 75, while Henry Thorton took 4/36. India bowlers shined in the second innings, as Australia A folded for 185 runs with fifties from Nathan McSweeney and Josh Phillippe, and set India A a target of 413 runs.
Though N Jagadeesan got out for 36, KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan scored hundreds to keep India in the chase. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 176 with 16 fours and 4 sixes, while Sudharsan made 100 with 9 fours and 1 six.
Dhruv Jurel, the captain, smashed 56 in 66 balls with five fours and three sixes as India A chased down the 413-run target with 5 wickets to spare.
Thanks to their record chase, India A became the first team in A-team unofficial Tests to chase down a target of over 400.
They broke the record of Australia A, who had chased 367 against Sri Lanka A in Hambantota in 2022.
