Team India continued their dominance over Pakistan in multilateral events as they defeated the bitter rivals by six wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium last Sunday (September 21).

This was Pakistan’s seventh successive defeat against India across ODIs and T20Is, and the gulf only seems to be growing wider and wider between the two sides.

The Men in Green registered their last win against the arch-rivals during the 2022 Asia Cup. Since then, they have suffered defeats in the 2022 T20 World Cup, 2023 Asia Cup, 2023 ODI World Cup, 2024 T20 World Cup, 2025 Champions Trophy and twice in the 2025 Asia Cup.

Seeing the decline of Pakistan cricket, veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma has started to 'feel bad for them'.

Speaking on Raj Shamani’s YouTube podcast, Ishant highlighted the 'pressure' Pakistan team faces on a daily basis, especially from their own fans.

"Pakistan already have so much pressure on them, how will they handle more from us? If you look at the matches, their fans in the crowd are always shouting behind them from the stands. Actually, sometimes I feel bad for them," Ishant said.

India and Pakistan can potentially face each other for the third time in the ongoing Asia Cup. Ishant has no doubts about the pressure Salman Agha's men are bound to face against the Men in Blue.

"The pressure will be high (during an India vs Pakistan match), but that was more during the time when they had great players like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Saqlain Mushtaq, Afridi... these were great players. The kind of talent, exposure, and infrastructure we have, they are not even close," he added.

After beating Pakistan in the Super 4 match, Suryakumar Yadav had downplayed the idea of a rivalry between two sides, citing the lop-sided affairs in India’s favour over the last few years.

"Sir, my request is that we should now stop calling India vs Pakistan matches a rivalry. Sir, rivalry and standard are all the same. Now what is a rivalry? If two teams have played 15 matches and it's 8-7, that's a rivalry. Here it's 13-1 (12-3) or something. There is no contest," Surya had responded when a question on the gulf between the two teams was thrown at him by a senior Pakistani journalist.
