Vaibhav Suryavanshi on Sunday (September 21) once again proved why he is touted as the next batting sensation of Indian cricket as the 14-year-old slammed 38 runs off just 22 balls against Australia U19 in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane.

Although the knock was a brief one, the southpaw left everyone impressed with shots, featuring seven boundaries and one six. Suryavanshi was threatening to take the game away, but his innings was cut short by Hayden Schiller in the fifth over.

Hayden had the last laugh after being hammered for five boundaries by the teenage prodigy. Suryavanshi started India's chase of 226 runs in a grand fashion style as he smashed the very first delivery for a boundary.

The opening over saw the left-hander hitting two boundaries. He struck his lone six off the bowling of Charles Lachmund. It is worth highlighting that this is the first time that Suryavanshi played a match in Australia.

Despite losing Suryavanshi (38), Ayush Mhatre (6) and Vihaan Malhotra (9) with 75 runs on the board in the 10th over, India won the match with seven wickets in hand and 117 balls to spare. Vedant Trivedi and Abhigyan Kundu remained unbeaten on 61 and 87, respectively.

Coming to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, he took the cricketing world by storm with his dazzling exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Suryavanshi scored 252 runs in seven matches with a strike rate of 206.55. The highlight of his maiden IPL season was the mind-blowing 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Suryavanshi, at just 14 years and 32 days, became the youngest-ever batter to score a ton in the cash-rich league. His 101-run knock off 38 balls, studded with seven boundaries and 11 sixes, paved the way for RR’s eight-wicket victory in the chase of 210 with 25 deliveries to spare.

During the course of his whirlwind innings, Suryavanshi broke Yusuf Pathan's 15-year-old record for the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian. His ton was the second fastest in the tournament history after Chris Gayle's century in 30 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2013.

Following the IPL 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a mark in the Youth ODI series against England. He produced knocks of 48, 45 and 86 in the first, second and third Youth ODI, respectively. However, his best bit of display came in the fourth game in Worcester, where he slammed 143 off 78 deliveries which included a stunning 52-ball century — the fastest ever in Youth ODIs.
