Rishabh Pant is back in India and will soon check-in at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation, Cricbuzz reported.
According to the report, the wicketkeeper-batter, who sustained a fractured toe on his right foot on Day 1 of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, spent the past few days consulting medical experts in Mumbai. He underwent an assessment to check the progress of his injured foot, which is still believed to be strapped.
Doctors in the city are understood to have given him a timeline for returning to the CoE for rehabilitation. While the details of the assessment are still awaited, it appears that the southpaw is targeting India's next home series against the West Indies in October for his comeback.
If that does not happen, the white-ball tour of Australia in October-November seems a realistic possibility, the report further added.
As a result of the injury, Pant had to miss the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at the Oval. The left-hander stayed back in England after the end of the series and is believed to have returned home only a few days ago.
Ever since his injury, Rishabh Pant has been active on social media, proving update on his recovery through posts.
"Just wanna tell you one thing which I understand is it doesn't matter how much pain you endured in the past, if you get hurt again it pains the same for sure, just the threshold goes up and you know the process to keep pushing yourself. So being positive is massive, motivating yourself works a lot. Keep trusting yourself and keep working in the direction you wanna take your life because what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger eventually," Pant’s recent post on Instagram read.
Coming to Pant’s injury, he was hit by the ball while attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes. The India vice-captain was batting on 37 at the time of the injury, and he bravely limped his way to the middle on Day 2 in Manchester to not only bring up his half-century but also help India cross 350.
