South African spinner Prenelan Subrayen has been cleared of suspect bowling action allegations by the ICC. Subrayen was reported for an illegal bowling action in the first game of the ODI series against Australia.
On August 26, Subrayen had an independent bowling evaluation at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane. The results showed that all of his deliveries had elbow extension within the 15-degree tolerance allowed by the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.
Subrayen is allowed to keep bowling in international cricket now that his action has been ruled lawful.
So far this year, the off-spinner has played in two international matches for the Proteas: an ODI in Australia and a Test match in Zimbabwe. With a wicket in the opening ODI, Subrayen helped South Africa win the ODI series after losing the T20I series 1-2 during their tour of Australia.
In his 10-over quota, Subrayen returned with figures of 1/46 thanks to his off-spin. Travis Head was his only victim and helped pave the way for South Africa's commanding 98-run triumph.
