Hrishikesh Kanitkar has reportedly been named the head coach of the India A team for the two upcoming multi-day matches against Australia A. The two teams will also play three ODIs post the red-ball matches.
The series will begin on September 16, with the second match scheduled for September 23. Both games will take place at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium. Following the two multi-day matches, Kanpur will host three one-day games on September 30, October 3, and October 5.
Hrishikesh Kanitkar, a former India all-rounder, will be the head coach of the India A team, a position he has held on multiple occasions in recent years. Sunil Joshi, a former India selector, has been chosen as bowling coach, while Mumbai assistant coach Atul Ranade has been designated India A's fielding coach for the series.
“Joshi and Ranade have been appointed just for the Australia A series,” The Times of India reported.
Atul Ranade was Mumbai's fielding coach when they won the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Sunil Joshi, 54, represented India in 15 Tests and 69 One-Day Internationals from 1996 to 2002, taking 110 wickets with his left-arm spin and scoring 936 runs.
He served as a national selector from 2020 to early 2023 and is currently the assistant coach & spin bowling coach of IPL franchise Punjab Kings.
