The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) continues to get richer as its bank balance showed a massive spike for the 2023-24 financial year.

According to Cricbuzz, the Indian board had a staggering bank balance of Rs. 20,686 crores at the end of the 2024 financial year (FY), as per a report circulated among state associations.

The finances for the 2024-25 financial year will be revealed during the board's AGM, slated to be held on September 28 in Mumbai.

As per the published information, that BCCI has added Rs. 14627 Crores in the last five years and Rs. 4193 Crores in the last financial year.

In 2018-19, the cash and bank balance of the board was Rs. 6059 Crores before distributing amounts to state associations, while the aforementioned amount for the 2023-24 FY is after every state was given their owed amounts.

The report also claims that BCCI's general fund has seen a surge of Rs. 4082 Crores from Rs. 3906 Crores in 2019 to Rs. 7988 Crores in 2024.

It was also mentioned in the financial report that BCCI has provisioned Rs. 3150 crore towards income tax obligations.

Earnings From Team India Matches Decrease

However, there was a significant drop in BCCI's earnings from Team India matches (gross media rights income). In 2022-23, BCCI earned Rs. 2524.80 Crores, but it came down to just Rs. 813.14 crores in 2023-24.

It was explained by the board that the reduction is owing to a lesser amount of home matches and also the 2023 World Cup being staged in India.

Furthermore, the revenue from the Indian men's team tours also went down from Rs. 642.78 in the previous year to Rs. 361.22 crores this year.

"BCCI has allocated INR 1,200 crore towards infrastructure development fund, INR 350 crore towards platinum jubilee benevolent fund and INR 500 crore towards infrastructure for cricket development funds. These allocations supplement the long-term vision of BCCI towards growth of cricket and supporting its former players," the report also added.
